We are blessed with a home that lacks a front closet. So we got this hall tree. The bench is great for storing shoes. I definitely like the safety hinges. The wood is pretty heavy, and my toddlers are very good at opening the bench. Their fingers are safe. I also like the top ledge. This adds extra storage space. I got some plastic decorative bins and use them to store my kids hats, mittens and scarves on the ledge. I also like that the hooks are doubled. It’s nice to be able to put small bags under the coats. This helps our entrance area appear uncluttered.
The color is definitely darker than the picture, but I have a small entrance area with no other furniture. I think it looks lovely, and we’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it.

oak vs cherry – M. Shaw – Villas, NJ
The picture says it is oak but after returning it twice I gave up, the oak was the color of cherry and could not be used in my home. I never really got it out of the box and the person I spoke with at the dealers was abrupt, rude and talked down to me. It’s a shame because it really was the style of furniture I wanted. I will not deal with this particular dealer again. Note that I do not blame Amazon for this problem, it was the particular furniture store.

This piece is easy to put together and all wood. I love it! Beware though that the color shown in the picture is not the correct color. It is quite a bit darker. It still matched my home and I am very happy with it. Well worth the price.

I love this bench, it assembles easily and looks great! Very solid as well, the only complaint I have is it is much darker then the picture looks, besides that, it’s awesome.
